Tarpaulins, a local specialty product of Linyi, Shandong, China, are setting sail overseas and gaining international recognition.
This tarpaulin comes from Linyi Xinshengyang Plastic Products Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shengyang Plastic") in Lanshan District, Linyi. With over 20 years of dedicated work, the company has focused on technological innovation and product quality, transforming itself from a small stall in the market to a high-end intelligent manufacturer. Even though its high-end tarpaulin products are priced 5,000 yuan per ton higher than the industry average, it still firmly holds its market share, with annual sales exceeding 200 million yuan. Linyi Market, known as "Southern Yiwu, Northern Linyi," boasts the largest professional market cluster in China and is an important logistics hub and wholesale center. As the core area of the market, Lanshan District leverages its advantages in commerce, logistics, and industrial clusters to precisely cultivate local specialty products, laying a solid foundation for the transformation, upgrading, and overseas expansion of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises. The company's independently developed polymer material formula, through scientific proportioning, new additives, and sophisticated processes, can increase product lifespan by 50% to 80%. "Whether it's the severe cold of Northeast China or the high temperatures of the tropics, our tarpaulins can easily adapt," explained Wei Xianchao, head of the R&D department. Currently, Shengyang Plastics has 15 patents for polymer material production equipment and 12 software copyrights, and has established a professional R&D team and specialized experimental platform. They also focus on niche markets, precisely adapting to market demands. For Chilean cherry cultivation, they developed sun-resistant and acid-rain-proof tarpaulins with an outdoor lifespan of up to 5 years; after the Hong Kong fire, demand for flame-retardant tarpaulins surged, resulting in a large number of orders; for livestock farming in Northeast China and aquaculture in Southern China, they developed high-grammage, high-transmittance aquaculture tarpaulins and anti-black-spot light brown impermeable membranes respectively… Shengyang Plastics meets all these personalized needs. “No matter the country or the scenario, as long as there is demand, we will do our best to adapt,” said Dai Qingguo. In 2025, Shengyang Plastics' foreign trade sales reached 80 million yuan, with products exported to 36 countries and regions in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe. In recent years, Lanshan District has leveraged its advantages in commerce and logistics to vigorously promote the "front shop, back factory" and "shop first, factory later" models, continuously optimize the layout of industrial parks, and deepen the construction of "one park per town, one product per village," opening up a complete development channel from order taking through the marketplace to local production and direct logistics delivery. Simultaneously, focusing on characteristic industries such as polymer materials, light industrial products, and food processing, the district has continuously improved upstream and downstream supporting facilities, and introduced a number of favorable policies to support enterprises, provide relief, promote scientific and technological innovation, and expand foreign trade, supporting the transformation and upgrading of local small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises. Today, more and more enterprises are relying on the mature local commerce and logistics system to expand nationwide and globally, continuously injecting new momentum into the quality and efficiency improvement of the regional real economy and the steady development of the export-oriented economy.
