How to choose a tarpaulin?
Polyethylene (PE) tarpaulins are lightweight, waterproof, and affordable. They are ideal for temporary uses, such as covering building materials, trucks, or outdoor equipment. PE tarpaulins range in weight from 50 to 300 g/m².
Polypropylene (PP) tarpaulins are stronger and more tear-resistant than PE tarpaulins. They are commonly used for heavy-duty coverings, floor mats, and industrial applications. PP tarpaulins typically weigh between 80 and 120 g/m².
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tarpaulins are the most durable and robust option. They offer excellent weather resistance, chemical resistance, and UV resistance. PVC tarpaulins weigh between 300 and 800 g/m² and are suitable for long-term outdoor use, such as truck canopies, protective coverings, and military applications.
Choosing the right material depends on your intended use:
• For short-term, light-duty applications, PE is sufficient.
• For medium-duty applications, PP is a good choice.
• For heavy-duty, long-term protection, PVC is the best choice.
