When shopping for tarpaulins, many buyers assume that bright colors like blue, green, or orange indicate better quality. But is that true?
The short answer is no. Tarpaulin quality is determined by GSM (weight per square meter), material (virgin or recycled polyethylene), UV stabilization, and edge reinforcement — not by color. A bright blue tarp and a dark green tarp from the same production batch have identical strength and waterproofing.
However, color does affect performance in specific situations. Bright colors offer better visibility, making them ideal for construction sites, roadside covers, or outdoor events where people need to see the tarp clearly. They also reflect more sunlight, helping keep covered areas cooler.
Dark colors, on the other hand, block more light and absorb heat, which is better for covering light-sensitive materials.
So, don’t judge a tarp by its color alone. Focus on the specs. Choose color based on your application — not on a myth.
